CALL FOR PAPERS

Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA) Gaba Publications in partnership with Moi University – Eldoret, have organized a writers’ conference to:

1. SENSITIZE WRITERS ABOUT AMECEA GABA PUBLICATIONS’ AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

2. PROVIDE A CLEAR FORUM OF COMMUNICATION TO INTERESTED WRITERS THROUGH ITS MISSION STATEMENT AND PUBLICATION POLICY

3. ATTRACT AND ENCOURAGE HIGH QUALITY ARTICLES/MONOGRAPHS FOR PUBLISHING

The workshop targets both prolific and pioneer writers who need a committed and quality conscious Christian publishing house to partner with.

The theme of the workshop is Reconciliation through Justice and Peace with the following sub-themes:

SUB-THEMES
1. HIV and AIDs: Justice and Peace in Africa.
2. Poverty and Economic Justice
3. Reconciliation and Peace
4. Environmental Justice for Peace and Development
5. Gender Equality and Peace
6. The Family as the Cradle of Justice and Peace
7. Politics and Development in Africa
8. The Church’s Teachings on Justice and Peace
9. Religious Ecumenism
10. Leadership for Justice and Peace
11. Traditional Systems of Reconciliation and Peace
12. Cultural Issues on Justice and Peace
13. Resource Management in the Church
14. International Issues on Justice and Peace i.e. International Debt, Globalization, Terrorism, etc.
NB: The role of the Church MUST be inculcated in each of these themes by the writer(s) to reflect the mission statement of AMECEA Gaba Publications – thus to evangelize the Church in Africa through the printed word. Abstracts and papers that will not exhibit these requirements, will NOT be accepted.

(i) The writers’ conference is tentatively set for late February and Early March 2008. Actual dates will be communicated to you in June this year, 2007.
(ii) CONFERENCE FEE: Is Kshs 2,500/= or US$ 70/= (inclusive of registration, conference materials, meals and bag).
(iii) Accommodation can be organized for you on request for an additional cost of Kshs 1,000/= (Bed & breakfast).
(iv) Deadline for registration is October 2007.
(v) Please send your abstract by July 15th 2007 and your draft paper by August 20th 2007 to: gabapubs@africaonline.co.ke
